I’m going to discuss what benefits planetary magick have, which are really good. In reality it can be seen as one great asset, which is that as a magician, one can count on a celestial body for “sending” one a spirit that is the most suited for the task at hand. I have demonstrated and written about notable examples in my previous articles, e.g. on The Sun, Venus and so on.
Even if one were to work and call down or absorb planetary energies, that is how they’d work in most cases. The only exception, in which I have extensive experience, is planetary magick via the Greater ritual of the Hexagram. Alas, it has no real practical benefit, since you only absorb the energy of a planet or zodiac sign and the ritual takes a while too (30 minutes min.)
As mentioned before, asking or petitioning a planet for a spirit that specializes in a certain matter is an excellent option, if you can’t find one that does so or don’t know one.
Example is that if you wanted someone for becoming a musician, Venus would be able to send you someone that’s perfect, since Venus deals with artforms; much better than wading through workbooks or grimoires looking for one that might not even be adept at that.

The seemingly contradictory nature of the Sun explained regarding rulership and practical applications for solar mages
For people that practice the occult, it is no secret that the Sun seems a bit contradictory in nature; it is strong in fire signs astrologically as well as overall and yet ironically seemingly it rules over air as an element and is adversely weak in it. Not to mention the fact that the Sun is the only planet that has this trope or trait or whatever you want to call it let alone taking into account that the Sun is the strongest planet obviously.
There is no specific reason for why this is the case: The Sun simply functions in a dualistic manner because it’s high in the sky and therefore logically it obviously only makes sense that it has rulership over the air, all the while keeping the properties of the Sun in mind, explaining its dominion over fire as well. In case anyone was misunderstanding what I was saying, no I am obviously not saying that the Sun rules fire as well as the air. The Sun rules the air and is strong in fire.
And for those that need a clear overview in terms of how the elements hypothetically speaking oppose each other:
. In the occult, fire opposes air and the earth opposes water.
. In the mundane, fire opposes water and air opposes the earth.
Now, for magicians and occultists that have an extreme fondness for the Sun to the point where they want to work with it alone, not a bad idea at all to say the least considering the fact that the Sun is the strongest planet and covers everything overall. The benefit for any practitioner would be that you don’t really have to look at any other planet because the planet that you chose to specialize in and it’s subservient energies cover everything with optimal/maximum potency, not to mention giving you skill in both air and fire. There are no drawbacks, other than the fact that you’re limiting yourself by only “going Solar”.
Guidelines For Elemental Mages
In this article I’ll give guidelines and related for magicians that are interested in specializing in one specific element, the benefits and whatnot.
First off, why would you want to do so as a sorcerer? What are the perks, gains and drawbacks? Doing so enables you to make well above average use of one element, thereby being a multitude of times stronger than the average magician. Drawback is that the rest of your esoteric faculties will be basic or average, more or less.
Secondly, who is the best or most practical candidate for this outlined Modus Operandi? To whom would this be recommended? To practitioners that have a strong affinity towards one of the elements. Look towards Natal Astrology for that- your personality will point out 1) IF you have a dominant element, and 2) to what extent. For the rest, detailed readings will point out what this path has in store for you.
A reminder- or just plain information to the properties of the elements & their practical usages:
- Earth– Hardworking, down-to-earth, stable, detailed; benefits are material goods (so yes, money), being stable & consistent as a whole, craftsmanship, knowledge of the Earth & terrestrial values etc.
- Air– Light in nature (as opposed to fire’s heaviness), swiftness, intelligence, refinement, deep knowledge of the world incl. technology, kindness, gentleness, beauty (physical appearance-wise), bonding with others etc.
- Fire– Highly potent (compared to the others), strength overall (mental & physical), concentration, focus, power, determination, offensive & defensive capabilities, martial prowess etc.
- Water– Highly adaptable (compared to the others), stable emotions, fluidity, conductive, highly potent (compared to the others) occult faculties & abilities, with the ability to grow & adapt quickly and more easily etc.
(PS. the element spirit is N/A regarding this subject)
Now, here it comes; in order to begin the journey, you need to utilize (above mentioned) planetary magick or similar, call upon the element you want to have your forte in & ask the following “I humbly beseech thee, please send Me an entity or similar that will help Me ascend to the heights I have my sights set on, please send Me one to assist Me on my path as a(n) [insert element] mage”.
You will be sent an emissary that will serve as your guide; follow His or Her instructions & done.
* It is recommended to NOT do all of this in the short term; see to it that this path is permanent or at the very least long-term, provided you truly wish to become a high grade elemental magus *
Invoking The Sun
I invoked the Sun today; why? Because I wanted a Solar angel that has wealth as specialty, and I had no one in my list like that aside from Lucifer. So I went ahead and performed the operation today, when the Sun was at its strongest in the afternoon.
When I did so, it took a second or two to get an answer and I was curious to see who would be sent to fulfill my request; then I saw an Angel dressed in completely yellow, with the same color eyes and blonde elf-like hair. He told me that he serves under Raphael and his name is Raquiel. He specializes in abundance, prosperity and wealth. Correspondence is 28° Leo, which stands for Cornucopia. I thank the Sun for its emissary and I have want I want. His seal is below.
The research files vol. XVIII: The Planet Venus
I will bring an interesting topic to attention and that is specifically invoking or summoning planets; the peculiar thing about this is that planets aren’t individual entities or even rulers of said planet, but the sphere itself. Addressing it is like addressing a company itself and NOT specifically someone within the company, not even its CEO.
I did exactly this, which I am bringing to light, in March somewhere; I was looking for a spirit that deals specifically with good fortune from a financial or general perspective and no matter how much I looked, I wasn’t able to find someone in my catalog. Using an egregore was not an option, since it would take too long for it to become strong enough to get the task done. So hence the idea to approach Venus itself, since I was focused on good fortune from a financial point of view like I mentioned. I was eager to see what would happen and the outcome was as I expected, in the sense that Venus or Netzach sent an emissary.
When called upon, it did something very interesting and effective. Not only did it send me someone, it sent me someone that was as close as I could possibly come to what I was looking for, and that one was no one else but The Roman Goddess Fortuna. I did not even know her and it was only when I was done that I googled her and saw who she was. My reaction was “Well, I’ll be damned”. This was not her most civilized side however, as she was very promiscuous and taunted me sexually and was nude. No clothing on or anything. I kept my cool and acted as if her taunts didn’t bother me, but to be honest they did not do so at all.
This is a lesson for those out there that are looking to summon a planetary sphere or a zodiac sign; working by default with one of them is alright in the long term, but this is the most likely result in one-time dealings. It reminds me of an “invoking God himself” post that I once read somewhere; the notion is for me personally ridiculous, since God is almighty. If you do address him, like a friend once told me he did and succeeded in the sense that he got what he wanted, then the same is or will be the outcome. Someone suited to your needs will be sent and very unlikely that the Big Man himself will aid you directly, unless he deliberately decides to do so.
Practicing zodiacal magick
This is a subset so to speak of planetary magick; it speaks for itself really, you’re simply going to be working with zodiac signs rather than the planets themselves. How it works is that, as a practitioner, you’re going to spiritually connect and absorb as much zodiacal energy as you want or is needed in order to accomplish an objective. Like I said earlier, obviously you need to be a practitioner whether it’s a magician, sorcerer, spellcaster, you name it.. you need to be able to work with/manage energy and the likes. In case any practitioner was still confused on how to do this, provided that you have worked with spirits before, you simply do the exact same but the focus is on the zodiac sign as mentioned earlier. Do keep in mind that it is not specifically necessary to have an altar and everything that comes along with it. You can also simply absorb as much energy for an intended purpose at will. As is the case by default, thoroughly go over everything regarding divinations and readings to get a proper forecasted outcome, so that you know what to expect and related. Also keep in mind that the energy isn’t supposed to come into conflict with whatever you have got going on, provided that is the case or applicable. In terms of the benefits, those also speak for themselves but in case anyone reading this forgot..
Aries – physical strength, mental strength, endurance, physical performance etc.
Taurus – wealth, riches, material goods, optimal income, financial prowess etc.
Gemini – quick wittedness, learning, reading and writing etc.
Cancer – financial prosperity through business ventures, especially real estate, catering, food-related establishments, cooking skills, agriculture etc.
Leo – prosperity in all ventures and things in life, life enjoyment etc.
Virgo – an improvement in working conditions and circumstances, physical health, people being of service to you, dealing with pets etc.
Libra – bettering and optimizing relationships with people of all natures and kinds, refinement, quality of life and being etc.
Scorpio – improving one’s level of self-determination and perseverance, overcoming fears and phobias, clairvoyance, concentration etc.
Sagittarius – improving one’s bonds and related with nature and the outdoors and all activities relating onto such, politics, high level educational matters etc.
Capricorn – leadership abilities, satiating one’s ambitions etc.
Aquarius – becoming technologically literate/fluent, accomplishing all one’s desires, improving social ties, weather related affairs etc.
Pisces – fluid occult clairvoyance and anything relating to the occult, dealing with mental illnesses and healing from them and psychological disorders of all kinds and natures, incarceration/institutionalization, unearthing deceitfulness, large bodies of water, the cold etc.
