Is it possible to do such a thing, or does it occur in real life? Yes. Before I continue, I need to state for the record that I outright condemn any illegal activity in which the occult is used as a tool for improving success. The best example I can give of this topic is as mentioned below…
Sakawa– as wikipedia defines it, Sakawa is “Ghanaian term for illegal practices which combine modern Internet-based fraud with African traditionalist rituals. The rituals, which are mostly in the form of sacrifices, are intended to spiritually manipulate victims so that the scammer’s fraud is successful“.
So there you go; the theory behind this is that regardless of the magickal system utilized, it increases the likelihood or chance of success in scamming someone by intoxicating a potential target to the point that He/She is scammed to the fullest more or less, something that the average person, from a neutral PoV, has difficulty understanding. That’s why you hear people say “How can He/She be so gullible, stupid?”. It makes little to no rational sense that someone would be so dense as to fall for simple tricks/excuses to the point that He or She is being scammed for vast sums of money or resources for an extended amount of time. In this case, a spell is literally as well as figuratively cast over the victim that leaves them in that compromised mental state. To see how effective this is, there are enough statistics that indicate a rise in scams of this nature/where this practice(s) is utilized:

By the way, most of these scammers are of African descent and their excuse for scamming, so justifying their actions to themselves and the rest of the world is that they’re “taking what’s rightfully theirs” from “the white man”, since a good deal of their “clientele” is caucasian…obvious colonialist delusion.
Lastly, I need to mention that this topic doesn’t apply to ALL cases of fraud, just the ones where it is utilized; so this doesn’t mean that the occult is used for ALL scams, just the ones where that actually is the case.
The root cause of scam victims
Most people in the world are already familiar with all the stories about people getting scammed or they are outright the victims themselves; romance scams where people get scammed by others for example in Nigeria and other high risk countries, scams that have to do with financial fraud e.g. money laundering, shady stuff and all of that.. as a result or consequence you have hypothetically speaking countless channels or at the very least more than a few warning people of things to be on the lookout for, tips and tricks on how to spot a scammer, the things they usually say, the script they follow etc. etc. etc. But what all of these channels or establishments and whatnot do not discuss is the victims themselves and how they are “wired”; if you’re a victim, guess what? You are the problem. Yes, the people that have scammed you are indeed a bunch of good for nothing degenerates and so on and so forth, but you need to stop and look at yourself in the mirror figuratively speaking, why do you think that you got scammed in the first place? Why do you think that other than getting scammed, there is a high probability that other bad things have happened to you in your life and are going to continue to happen? Because you need to check yourself; there is something seriously awry or wrong with your mental health or psychologically. If you’re mentally or spiritually or psychologically tainted, then you are highly poised to attract negativity in all of its varieties, and getting scammed regardless of the way, shape or form it presents itself or comes your way. The aforementioned channels and institutions don’t actually help the individual that has been scammed in a direct manner as described just now, why, generally speaking? Because some of them focus on profit, entertainment in relation to the situation and others do so because they know that these mentally broken victims will have an attitude along the lines of “I don’t want to hear it, I call you guys to help me and I get this instead, I get criticized instead”. Still doesn’t change the fact that what I said applies: you are the problem, victim; your negative state of mind causes all these problems to come to you, and if you don’t acknowledge it and rectify it, the cycle of negativity will continue.
